Free to Be Bland
In the pursuit of “liberating” women with the false gospel of feminism, feminists have only replaced the imagined chains of biblical gender roles with the actual chains of oppression and confusion. The egalitarian worldview and its sadly misshapen daughter, feminism, are some of cruelest tyrants of history.
They enslave a woman by chaining her to futilely and endlessly attempting to be something that she can never be. They enslave her to by demanding that she must be made to sing unison with man, when she was created to sing harmony, and she’ll never hit his note (and he’ll never hit hers). They enslave her by fettering her worth to the Enlightenment era lust for individuality (and consequent loneliness), rather than the queenly place which Scripture affords her in the covenant community, i.e. a mother of nations (Gen. 17:16).
Christians need to stop sheepishly apologizing for what the feminists tell us the Scriptures teach about women and gender roles. The feminist ideal for women is more bland than gluten-free rice cakes. It is Scripture’s vision for men and women which draws true beauty out of femininity and true strength out of masculinity. When we submit to allowing Scripture to define masculine and feminine, men and women, we find true freedom.
Defined by Caricature
We have allowed our vision for gender roles to be defined and caricatured by those who despise God and His Word. It would not occur to feminists that the world of difference between the sexes is a feature of God’s created order, rather than oppressive patriarchal propaganda. For talking a lot about diversity, the feminist agenda is blind to where diversity shines in its brightest glory: a husband and wife.
They complain that the appearance of female Olympians are discussed more often than male Olympians, and that men are noted for their accomplishments. They bemoan this. But to us with eyes, it is plain that a woman has a certain glory and it is in her beautifying grace & industry (Pro. 31, Ps. 45:, whereas a man has a different glory, it is his strength and wisdom (Pro. 20:29).
A Fiery Hot Gospel
In many of these discussions we end up falling into the fallacy of basing our arguments against Scriptural gender roles on cases of clear disobedience to Christian practice (i.e. an abusive husband or father). They point to overbearing, undisciplined men as proof that the Bible oppresses women, rather than pointing to the Bible as proof that such ungodly men can only be subdued by a fiery hot Gospel.
Such feminist thought as just discussed, inevitably lead to the licentious immodesty and sexualization of women and/or to the litigious schoolmarm-y rules of easily offended and perpetually joyless social justice warriorettes. Either way, feminism leads to prostitution. In their view, a woman sells her body in either an act of “being herself” (i.e. nudies, sex symbol status, etc.), or she sells her body to serve the feminist agenda of tyranny of offended by everything, passing laws for everything, protesting everything. Notice, that the woman is always ultimately discarded in the end.
We have women protesting by refusing to wear pads hiding their monthly menstruation. This is done in the name of freedom. Look up their efforts to make “man-spreading” illegal for men and acceptable for women. But they are merely being exploited for their passions (which fuel other despotic political agendas), not for the person they are.
By way of contrast, as previously mentioned, Scripture affords women the place of Queen of a Kingdom (Gen. 1:28, Ps. 128:3), not a whore in the gutter (Pro. 11:22).
