Imagine having a delicious bowl of the cheesiest Mac and cheese ever right in front of you. You stick your spoon in, and then….yawn and say, “That’s too much work to bring it into my mouth.†That’s one picture of slothfulness which King Solomon gives us (Pro. 19:24).
Being slothful, or lazy—or as mama calls it Oupa Meebol—is like thinking you can make something or get something without a cause. But we know that the world came into being beCAUSE God acted, God did something.
So we should imitate Him and make things. We take messes and make them orderly. We take old carpet out to put new flooring in. We take flour, butter, sugar and make cookies. God gives you this world and the things in it, and calls you to take it and make things out of the mess, make beautiful things, tasty things, sturdy things. But they won’t appear if your hands are stuck in your pockets and your tooshy is plunked down on the sofa.
