This is a metrical rendering of the first 8 verses of Psalm 31.
Verse 1
In You, O LORD, I place my trust; Let me never be ashamed.
Save, rescue, and deliver me in Your great righteousness
Bow down Your ear and hear my plea, with speed deliver me;
And be my Rock both sound and strong, My fortress and abode.
Verse 2
You are my citadel of stone Upon the mountainside.
For Your name’s sake, Almighty God, lead, guide, and govern me.
Although my foes plot to ensnare, Remove me from their net
Because You, Lord, are my stronghold, My harbor and my home.
Verse 3
As Jesus cried, “Into Your hands, my spirit I commit,”
I, too, confess, Lord God of truth, redemption is in You.
I hate all those who render praise To idols false and vain.
Though foolish men chase feeble dreams, I trust in GOD alone.
Verse 4
I will be glad, rejoice, and praise Jehovah’s steadfast love.
For You have seen my troubled soul, and known all my distress.
Though death and Satan held me fast, You freed me from their hands.
My feet now march through all the earth, Christ’s Kingdom to proclaim.
