Scripture teaches that having a child isn’t merely biological, but is also profoundly spiritual. This is because we are not mere mortals. We aren’t mere molecules in motion. When a farmer sows seed, he sows in hope of a harvest. God commanded our first parents, who were effectively farmers, to be fruitful & multiply, to sow the seed of children, in confident hope of a harvest of godly seed.
This task is certainly fraught with risk, danger, and difficulty. Because of the fall, childbearing was laden with additional peril. But Christian parents put their trust in God to bless the conception, bearing, delivery, and raising of godly seed. In baptizing our children we confess the purpose of our children: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. By faith we see that here is godly seed, who also by faith will plant more godly seeds, until one day, when the whole earth will be like a golden crop of wheat.
So welcome our sister to Jesus Christ…
